WHO CAN JOIN?

Region IX Social Security Employees and their immediate families are eligible to join Sun Pacific Federal Credit Union. To apply, you may click on the Membership Application, complete it, and then submit it electronically.  After you submit the application, a credit union representative will contact you. You may also visit our branch office or call us at (510) 970-1181 to have an application packet mailed to you. Thank you!

Please note that this online Membership Application is intended to open personal accounts for new memberships. To apply for membership online, you need to be at least 18 years old. Accounts with special designations are required to be opened in person, or call us to have an application packet mailed to you.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

For yourself and any joint* account owners.

  1. $5 Opening Deposit into a Regular Share (Savings) Account
    (Funded with a debit or credit card or transfer from another financial institution)

  2.  Valid Identification
    (Driver's License, State or Government-issued ID, US Passport, or Permanent Resident Card)

  3. Valid United States Social Security Number

  4. Current Physical Address

  5. Date of Birth

  6. Valid Email Address

*Joint Ownership allows all owners to perform deposits, withdraws, transfers and the ability to close products (however, only the Primary can close the account in full). Each owner will have full and equal authority to access all funds, regardless of where the funds originated. No owner can remove another owner from the account, they can only remove themselves. The account includes right of survivorship, meaning if one owner passes away, the funds are split among the remaining account owners, regardless of what the deceased owner's Will states. This account also includes rights of setoff, which means funds in this account can be used towards any and all obligations, liability or debt owed by any owner on the account, regardless of where the funds originated from.

On September 11, 2001, our lives changed forever when our country was attacked. In an effort to protect you and our country, President Bush signed the USA Patriot Act into law on October 26, 2001. 

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. 

When you open a membership account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We will ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents. This same type of identification will be requested of others that you add to your existing account. In all cases, protection of your identity and the confidentiality of this information is our pledge to you.
